There are no plans for a Deepdale Food and Drink Festival in 2007, however watch this space for information on future events.

Saturday 10th June 2006

Deepdale Food and Drink Festival People's Awards - Throughout the day visitors are asked to vote for their favourite Food and favourite Drink at the Festival.  The winners will be announced at 4pm on Sunday.

A full programme will be announced shortly

2.30pm
(All Afternoon)
Meena Lee Quartet

Most of the quartet have played from their early teens and all have worked with a variety of jazz groups and big bands for many years.

Joining Meena Lee on vocals are guitarist Barry Womersley, Jim Ronaldson on alto and tenor saxophones and Will Dunlop on bass guitar. Together they play a mixture of well known jazz standards along with some of the rarely heard numbers from as early as the 1930s.

“Songs from the Great American Songbook” is the best way of describing the repertoire of a set of musicians who enjoy playing the classic material made famous by artists such as Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Julie London and Fred Astaire, to name but a few.

ZOO

ZOO are a jazz-rock trio based in Derbyshire, UK. ZOO write most of their own material, but have also worked on a number of interpretations of jazz standards.

With a varied electronic and acoustic instrument base, ZOO create a unique blend of jazz-infused grooves, warm, absorbing and emotive, beautifully intimate, atmospheric, with rich harmonies and instrumentation.

Variously described as "Everything but the Girl meets Suzanne Vega", "the Mamas and Papas on acid", and compared to The Isely Brothers, Lalo Schiffrin, Radiohead, Matt Bianco, All About Eve, and Massive Attack.
