Making tree guards to protect newly planted trees

Interested in the countryside and would like some practical experience on a working farm? Deepdale Conservation Weekend offers you the chance to stay on the farm, bed and breakfast provided, in exchange for two days work (10am to 3.30pm).

A Saturday night BBQ will also be provided to fuel you for Sunday!

If you enjoy the great outdoors and like the thought of working as part of a conservation team for a couple of days, please read on.

Excellent that you want to come and join us for the conservation weekend.  Please fill out your details below and we'll book you in.  Unfortunately we can't accept children on the weekend as insurance won't cover them.  The team is a maximum of 12 people working with some of the farm staff.

The itinerary for the weekend goes something like this:

Arrive Friday evening

Saturday
9am - Breakfast in the cafe
10am - Off to the woods
Picnic lunch
(you need to provide this or buy from the cafe)
3.30pm - Back to the hostel to rest the weary limbs
7pm - BBQ

Sunday
9am - Breakfast in the cafe
10am - Off to the woods
Picnic lunch
(you need to provide this)
3.30pm - Back to the hostel to rest the weary limbs

"I just wanted to say how much Dave Kevin and myself enjoyed the conservation weekend and the friends we made. Please pass on our thanks to Alister, Verily and Jason for their hospitality and the very enjoyable barbecue.

I know it’s the distant future but if you're taking bookings for the conservation weekend in 2006 please include all three of us on the list."

Mik, Derbyshire

If you have been with us for both days and would like to stay Sunday night as well, then you'd be more than welcome.

Remember that you just need to bring food for lunch on the Saturday and Sunday.  Otherwise you just need a towel and some clothes suitable for working in the woods.  Of course it never rains here, but bringing a waterproof might not be a bad idea!
