Throughout the year we will be running events, including courses, guided walks, quizzes, activity breaks, festive celebrations and of course our annual Conservation Weekend and Earth Day

Most of our winter events happen midweek and you can decide whether you want to stay 1, 2 or more nights around the event.

Fresh Mussels from Brancaster Staithe Harbour

Enjoy our local speciality, fresh mussels from Brancaster Staithe Harbour. These delicious shellfish can be enjoyed during months with an r in them, so roughly from September to April depending on how warm spring gets.

Mussels can be enjoyed in pubs, restaurants and cafes along the coast.

Flights of Geese

Many thousands of geese visit the north Norfolk coast during the Winter months. The skies are filled with them and it is an amazing spectacle of nature, which is well worth seeing. Happens from roughly mid October to early February.

Seal Pups on Blakeney Point

Yachtmaster Course (Part 1)

A course for more experienced skippers, which takes them up to the theory knowledge required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster practical course in the RYA Cruising scheme. This course is the natural follow-on to the Day Skipper Theory course above. By the end of the course you will have gained the knowledge and be capable to carry out what is required to make passage across the Channel or sail the coastal/offshore waters around Britain & Europe.

Fakenham Races

Christmas at Deepdale Café

As with previous years Deepdale Cafe will be running our very popular Christmas menu from 1st December to 24th December 2008.  Along with Lin's famous mulled wine and mince pies, throughout December we will be offering the festive menu overleaf. Group bookings are very welcome.  Please book your Christmas menu in advance, as our delicious Norfolk Black turkey is very much in demand!

Open everyday except Christmas Day 7.30am - 4pm.  We are open New Years Day also.

Please note: We will be open Boxing Day this year for the first time but we will be running a Restricted menu (copies available) so that staff with children can have the day off.

For those of you who, this Christmas, are taking heed of that great saying 'organization is power!' (Lenin 1913) we are now taking orders for outside catering, canapés, takeaway meals, desserts etc.  Please see our Shop and provisions list for supplies we can help you with.

Our 'Shop at the cafe' will have lots of yummy things for the Christmas table, so feel free to come in and have a look.

Cyril and Ben Southerland's fantastic mussels served with white wine and cream and a chunk of hand cut bread to mop up the juices

Tempura vegetables with wasabi mayonnaise dip (V)

Locally smoked salmon Gradvalax with beetroot, brown bread and butter, honey mustard pickle and a salad garnish

Christmas Walking Quiz

01/12/2008 to 31/12/2008

Walking Christmas quiz.  Pickup your sheets from Deepdale Information between 1st and 31st December.

Visit the information centre, pay your £1 for the quiz sheet, then follow the walking route and find the answers along the way. Some questions are general knowledge and some are things you'll see along the way including around Dalegate Market, in St Mary's Church and around the stewardship walks round Deepdale Farm. When you have all the answers you deliver the answers back to Deepdale Information. If you get the answers right, then you may be in with the chance of winning a prize (to be announced).

Dalegate Market Christmas Shopping Evening

The shops and cafe at Dalegate Market, Burnham Deepdale, will be opening later than usual on Wednesday December 3rd until 7pm.

Diesel Engine Maintenance

13/12/2008 

The know how to sort most minor problems that might affect you while on a cruise. We will show you over a variety of different diesel engines, including one boxed to simulate the environment you should expect on board. By using problem solving techniques and providing you with a chance to fix them you will leave this course confident that you will not panic next time! NB SailCraft may not have a model similar to your own and so be sure to consult your owners manual to ascertain the whereabouts of the parts in need of regular maintenance.

All the necessary paperwork is provided on the day and the certificate is part of the RYA Cruising Scheme. SailCraft do not provide logbooks with this course, but they are available from their retail shop.

Christmas at Deepdale

Your stay will be relaxed in the beautiful surroundings of the north Norfolk coast and you'll be cooked Christmas Lunch by the team.  Why not enjoy a walk along Brancaster Beach or join the annual Christmas Day swim at Hunstanton.

Lunch and a glass of bubbly is covered by the cost of your stay, any other alcohol you'd like to consume is for you to bring with you.

We ask each guest to bring a £5 present, which will go to another person staying, so that you all get to open a present on Christmas Day.

Roundtable Christmas Day Swim

25/12/2008 

The Hunstanton Round Table Christmas Swim attracts thousands of spectators each year from near and far and has enjoyed fantastic support for 50 years. The event plays a crucial part in many a family Christmas in these parts for both residents and visitors alike and it raises huge sums of money for many charitable causes.

Swimmers assemble around 10.30am and the swim commences at 11am from the Central Promenade.

Celebrate the New Year dressed as something or someone from Australian Culture with the team at Deepdale.  If you are unsure of your fancy dress options, then might we suggest Dame Edna, Crocodile Dundee, a kangaroo or Priscilla Queen of the Desert!

Your stay includes a New Year's Eve Party at Deepdale - BBQ, bubbly at New Year, party games (including the chocolate game), any other alcohol you'd like to consume is for you to bring with you.

Norfolk Coast Walking Break

Join other walkers staying at Deepdale for 3 days of self guided walking the Norfolk Coast Path. Highlights include Holkham Beach, Titchwell Nature Reserve and the Salt Marshes.

Each day is a full day of walking, with time to enjoy food and drink along the way, and plenty of opportunities to take in the breathtaking countryside and coastal views.

Choose from private ensuite rooms, dorm beds, camping or tipis. Participants need to bring their walking clothing and equipment. The CoastHopper bus service will be used to return to Deepdale after each day of walking.

Green Up Your Business and Home

An afternoon course (2pm to 5pm) to help you identify ways you can become greener and save money both at work and at home.

The course will include a guided tour of the technologies that Deepdale has already installed, explanation and demonstrations of a range of other technologies available, discussions, useful contacts and many opportunities to ask questions about your specific company or home.

There is extensive reading and coursework, and so we have left time between sessions for you to complete each module.

Real Ale Appreciation Evening

Teddy Maufe of the Real Ale Shop, will be presenting an introduction to Real Ales from Norfolk. You'll get a chance to sample some of the beers and purchase from the wide range in his shop.

Purchases will be delivered to Deepdale the following day or can be picked up from the Real Ale Shop near Wells-next-the-Sea.

Participants may like to join the group meal at The Jolly Sailors afterwards for dinner (at your own cost).

Deepdale Conservation Weekend

Interested in the countryside and would like some practical experience on a working farm?  Deepdale Conservation Weekend offers you the chance to stay on the farm, bed and breakfast provided, in exchange for two days work (10am to 3.30pm).
A Saturday night BBQ will also be provided to fuel you for Sunday!

Norfolk Coast Cycling Break

Join other cyclists staying at Deepdale for 3 days of self guided cycling around the north Norfolk coast. Highlights include Holkham, The Burnhams and parts of the Peddar's Way.

Routes are designed to be enjoyed with food and drink along the way, and plenty of opportunities to take in the breathtaking countryside and coastal views.

Choose from private ensuite rooms, dorm beds, camping or tipis. Participants need to provide their own bikes and other equipment, including safety equipment. Hire of equipment can be organised by the team at Deepdale

Basic Navigation and Safety Course

28/03/2009 to 29/03/2009

This new course gives a basic introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating: sailors, powerboaters, sea anglers, divers and boatmasters. It is also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers.

A discount of 10% will be given for group bookings of 3+
